Chairperson elected by Magyar Telekom’s Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Magyar Telekom has elected its chair. The head of Deutsche Telekom’s Technology Europe unit, Kerstin Günther has been elected as chairwoman of the Board. This change leaves the chief executive responsibilities and Board membership of Christopher Mattheisen unaffected.

Kerstin GüntherIn line with the practice applied at numerous member companies of Deutsche Telekom, by this decision of the Board of Directors, the tasks of corporate management has been separated from Board chairmanship at Magyar Telekom.

Magyar Telekom’s transparent corporate management is further developed by the fact that from now on the different responsibilities of the chief executive officer and the chairperson of the Board of Directors will be performed by two different persons as the Board chair is a non-executive Board member.

Kerstin Günther joined the Deutsche Telekom Group in 1991, has held several positions and obtained extensive international experiences. Thus, among others she acted as head of regulatory relations at Magyar Telekom between 1997 and 2001, and then the wholesale unit reported to her. Since March 2012, as head of Deutsche Telekom’s Technology Europe unit, she has been responsible for the functional management of the technological area in 13 countries within the European management.

The members of Magyar Telekom’s Board of Directors were elected by the regular General Meeting on 12 April, 2013 for a period up to 31 May, 2016 or any other day closing the 2015 business year.
