legy te is informatikus 250x140The Digital Thematic Week takes place for the second time this year from 3 to 7 of April; Telekom joined to it with its program called “Be in IT expert!” Volunteers of Telekom and T-Systems Magyarország have reached nearly 14 000 children with the interactive career orientation presentations, whereas during the thematic week additional 3400 children will meet the program.

The objective of Be an IT expert! is to make more young people familiar with the world of IT, the career opportunities offered by the field, thus making them aware that in a few years infocommunications will become part of every profession. Within the frames of the thematic week, 79 presentations will be conducted in 47 schools throughout the country.

The Challenge

In addition, the Be an IT expert program is now extended with a new element, “the Challenge”, which is an online adventure game available on the website of the program. The game is available for teams of 9 to 12 grade high school students; during the game they have to resolve tasks that require algorithmic thinking and basic programming skills.

In the Challenge embedded in an intergalactic story the teams have to resolve four identical programming tasks by the time specified, and then in the fifth task they have to implement their own improvement and to challenge one of the participating schools with it. In the course of resolving the tasks, the use of a programming language may become necessary, which can be learned through free of charge online courses, so during the game students may virtually unconsciously learn the skills they will be able to use in other areas, as well.

The game is open for registration on the website of the program between March 28 and April 21; 20 teams may participate in the competition.
