Happy birthday, BUBI!

The capital’s public bike sharing system, MOL Bubi, the success of which has surpassed all expectations, turned one year old on September 08. The experience so far shows that the system developed and ran by T-Systems Hungary works smoothly and its popularity is unchanged.

Happy birthday, BUBI!BKK Center for Budapest Transport informed the press about the experience gained so far with the use of the bike sharing system and the related achievements at a press conference held in celebration of the first anniversary.Close to 4000 users bought passes to use the green bikes as early as in the first month of the system’s operation, and their number has been constantly increasing since. In the one year of its operation so far, users rented bikes at more than 815 000 occasions. The bikes are used most frequently within the half-hour free-of-charge period, for an average of less than fifteen minutes, which also shows that MOL Bubi is considered an addition to other means of public transportation and is preferably used in combination with those. Triggered by users’ suggestions and comments, the MOL Bubi service has been expanded since its launch by another 19+1 docking stations across the city and a quarter-year pass, thus promoting the use of the bikes by the widest possible public. Another 2 docking stations are expected to be added by the end of September.
