Telekom releases again the call for applications for the Sustainability media award

This year Telekom and the Sustainability Media Club announced again a call for applications for the media award where those journalists, editors, bloggers, vloggers are awarded who performed outstanding work in the field of presenting life-changing or global stories. Applications can be submitted in three categories and the award is net HUF 300 thousand in each category.

t_logo_250_140According to the “Our Common Future” UN document, issued in 1987 “sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. The needs of our present are enormous: energy, clean air, freshwater, food ... However, the resources of planet Earth - including people - are finite. This is why it is important that the environment, society and economy live together in harmony. If there is no balance between these three interests than one of them will harm the others. The objective of harmonization is simple: to preserve the same environment and opportunities for our children and grandchildren that are given for us.

Therefore Telekom and the Sustainability Media Club (the members of which are Magyar Telekom, TV2, RTL Klub, CEMP, Central Media Group, Forbes, Origo, Mediaworks and established the Sustainability media award as an acknowledgment of those efforts that focus the attention of the public on local, regional and global issues that have an impact on our lives and environment while improving awareness on sustainability both in the Hungarian media and public life. Through the Sustainability media award it becomes possible to pinpoint topics with the help of which we may focus on the importance of strengthening common ways of thinking and the media's role.

This year applications are invited in three categories: „TV/radio/ video content”; „written newspaper article (print, online)” and „blog, vlog”. The applications have to be submitted on the topics of sustainability and responsibility as follows: how tools and/or innovative economy/society/environment protection efforts of the 21st century can contribute to the management and addressing the current social, economic and environmental problems, challenges in a sustainable way. As digitalization and technology play a huge role and shape our lives while transforming it, the challenge of these days is how we can best utilize the technological development in various areas of our lives.

Applications can be submitted with materiel released between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2017 and the final decision will be made by a professional jury. The final deadline of submitting applications is 12:00 a.m. July 1, 2017 and the awards will be given out on the 10th Sustainability Day, on September 30, 2017.
